Population Growth

During the last lesson, we went through the homework on 'Factors affecting population density'. Do take note that different factors such as Climate, Soil, Mineral Resources, Transport and Communications affects the development of a place.

As we moved to the topic on 'Population Growth', you have to know the definitions of the following:
1. Birth rate
2. Death rate
3. Natural Increase
4. Zero population growth
5. Infant mortality rate
6. Life expectancy

As for the population growth, remember there are 2 types of growth
1. High Rate of Increase
•High BR + High DR
•Although DR is high, there is still a high increase because no. of BIRTHS > DEATHS
- Developing country eg China

2. Low Rate of Increase
•Low BR + Low DR
•No of births are insufficient
- Developed country eg Singapore

The roleplay of the 6 different characters are to reflect the
(A) Causes of high/low population growth - High/low birth rate + High/low death rate
(B) Consequences (as a result) of high/low population growth
(C) Responses/Solutions to high/low population growth - Policies in China and Singapore

Thats all folks
